My View on Falz's This Is Nigeria
Nigerian musician Falz the bahd guy shocked everyone (Nigerians especially) with his cover of Childish Gambino's This is America. He took everyone by surprise by unapologetically highlighting the issues faced by Nigerians from epileptic power supply, to insecurity, to bad roads, to terrorism, to corruption/embezzlement by our leaders, to extortion by our religious leaders etc.
In my opinion he hit the nail on the head and pin pointed every problem without mincing words. Without war, without fight he successfully delivered his speech creatively to the world. Let us hope our dear leaders adjust. He as a concerned citizen needed to lend his voice and he did so the best way he could. Some people say that he's already following the legend, Fela Anikulapo's footsteps. I hope that we all are able to learn from the musician and understand the art of a peaceful protest. Sometimes all that is needed is not carrying placards up and down, or raining curses on the perpetrators but creatively conveying your point to the general public till it reaches the tables of the perpetrators.
In case you haven't watched the video just search "This is Nigeria" on YouTube or click the link in his bio on social media. Please share your thoughts on the cover. Do you think he did justice?
Till me meet again next time, I remain Ore Sho.
